A Place for Art was a collaborative project between Mark Collett Design and Build and KH Studio. It was developed to support the theme of a constantly changing building and to instigate a culture of community ownership .

The building can be seen as a blank canvas on which to draft images for or belonging to the community. Changing art displays will ensure that the building remains fresh and engaging for visitors and staff alike and that creative efforts don’t just become part of the wallpaper.

Created from a range of materials such as back lit corian, cork board and walnut the display areas are manifested on walls, under stairs, as plinths and showcases. They are branded using colour and graphics and possibly a printed map to show where they are located throughout the building. Lighting will be an important consideration
